The book is centred around a girl who commutes to work (for a job she no longer has) and watches the lives of one couple from their balcony every day. She makes up stories in her imagination about the couple and becomes quite heavily attached to them, as the novel progress, the 'girl on the train' starts to become a lot more involved in the lives of people she really shouldn't be involved with, which lands her in quite some trouble. The ending is really shocking but brilliant all the same. As I said, I literally couldn't put this book down and only actually stopped for toilet breaks! It's one of those books where you just want to keep reading until you find out the ending but all the same you just don't want it to end. I would really recommend this book to anyone, whether you're an avid reader or not, I'm certain it would keep you hooked. Full of suspense, thrill and shocking moments, Paula Hawkins is an author to look out for, a truly brilliant debut novel. If you're thinking of buying this I'd definitely say just do it, you won't be disappointed.
Have you read this too? I'd love to know what you thought of it. If you're looking for something similar, I'd definitely suggest 'The Husband's Secret' by Liane Moriarty, a similarly brilliant book full of suspense.
I read this book a couple of months ago, actually while commuting to and from work, and it was so gripping. It's the sort of book that gives you chills/creeps you out in parts. I'd definitely recommend to those that haven't read it yet!
